Rachel Duckett
Rachel holds a 2014 BMus music degree from Goldsmiths, University of London. Since graduating she has dedicated her time to developing a portfolio of skills including producing, composing, teaching, piano playing, conducting and singing. It was her interest in community combined with a love of orchestral music and desire to develop the skill of orchestral conducting which lead her to found Holborn Community Orchestra. The goal is to engage musicians of all levels living or working locally in collective music-making within a friendly environment.
As a soprano, Rachel is currently touring the UK as Isabel and cover to Mabel in The Merry Opera Company’s productions of The Pirates of Penzance. Other recent roles include Adele (Die Fledermaus), Wilton’s Music Hall; Queen of the Night (Die Zauberflöte) Theatre Bouffon, Paris; Flora (La Traviata) and Elisetta (The Secret Marriage ) with Hampstead Garden Opera, Jacksons Lane Theatre.
Rachel has recently celebrated her first composer commission to write a tributary piece celebrating women of the Windrush generation, resulting in her piece for soprano and piano, Windrush 1948 Sea Shanty, premiered at Kings Place last autumn as part of the WOW Festival with the Shirley Thompson Ensemble.
